Want to learn how to make money with your website?

If you own a website, chances are that you have sometimes Googled how to make money with your website, or something of the sort. That might even be the search query that got you here today.

At other times, you might just be nursing the idea of owning your own website and seeking out legit ways to make money online with your website. If that sounds like you, this piece is for you.

Before We Continue

I feel like I owe it to you to make a disclaimer at this point so that I do not waste your time.

Before I got here, I researched a lot of ways to make money online. I found out the hard way that most of them were just lofty ideas that were not, in any way, close to the real thing. There is no such magic here – unless you have been working so hard for such magic to happen.

Thus, I should tell you that this is not a list of tips that will get you riding your Lamborghini in the first six months. What this is, is a list of actionable, proven ways to make money online that you can grow for as long as you want your zeroes to be.

Now that we have that covered, let’s get right to it.

Make Legit Money Online

I am going out on a limb here to assume you have a website – or are, at least, planning on getting one? If that’s settled, these tips are for you.

1.) Sell Ad Space

This is not Google Ads. I repeat, this is not Google Ads.

Your website has a lot of space in the header, footer, and sidebars where you can choose to have ads. These can be created to have different sizes too, so you can offer them to brands at different rates.

The best thing about selling ad space by yourself is that you get to choose the kinds of brands you want to show on your website. This is not usually something that you can control with Google AdSense.

Better still, you can ensure the brands you work with are those that resonate with your message, so nothing ever seems out of place.

Besides, you get to charge your fees: which can be upfront or depending on the number of visitors you get monthly.

2.) Promote Sponsored Posts

When brands, webmasters, other bloggers, etc., want to get the word out there about their product/ article/ other materials, they usually need to ride on the backs of someone successful in that niche already.

They will seek out blogs that they can write for – while inserting their links in the post too – so that they can have a wider reach and audience.

In return, you get a pretty penny for your efforts.

We recommend that you never overdo it with sponsored posts.

Before you start accepting them, make sure there is a clear guideline of what you expect. That should include well-written, plagiarism-free and relevant content, among others. Otherwise, sponsored posts could quickly damage the reputation of your website.

Pro Tip: you can offer to develop the sponsored posts for those that seek you out – and you get to tack the writing fee on top of their bill. Think about writing for your blog and getting paid while at it.

3.) Generate Leads

When you read about lead generation, many assume that they always have to need the leads they are working on. That could not be more wrong.

You could be running, say, a website based on pets and you are not even a vet. That does not mean you cannot activate a lead generation campaign for those who would want extra care for their pets after reading your articles.

Those leads can then be sold to a licensed veterinary company that can use such information to grow their client base. You have been able to solve the problems of two parties, and you still got paid for it too.

4.) Go commercial

There is almost one thing or the other that can be sold on a website, no matter what niche it finds itself in.

When you go commercial, though, you have to find a unique need that you can fill. Otherwise, your voice would be drowned amid that of hundreds of other eCommerce websites out there, competing for the same attention that you are.

5.) Write an eBook

For those who already have a steady audience, nothing is stopping you from cashing in on that with an eBook.

If those people have been following your content for a while, it is because they know that you are doing something right. This also means that they are willing to pick your brains more.

They want to understand what makes you do the things you do, what makes you tick, what skills you have garnered over the years, enjoy some thought leadership content from you, and so on.

Why not package something really special for them, put it into an eBook and sell it on your site?

The best thing about eBooks is that you don’t have to pay for any publishing house. Just develop one on your word processing package, format it right with some compelling graphics, add a book cover, and you are good to go.

Pro Tip: if you are too busy to write one by yourself, simply jot down your thoughts and hire a ghostwriter to develop the book for you. A couple of sales here and there, and you should make back the cost of getting the eBook done in no time. I always go to these gigs on fiverr because its cheap and quick but still high quality.
